Bonjour Càphê: NEED A NEW HOME 

Hi, my name is Kevin Lê, founder and cook of Bonjour Càphê.

Exactly a year ago, I opened Bonjour Càphê as a three-week pop-up, driven by nothing but a love for Vietnamese coffee—that rich, bold flavor that when paired with condensed milk, creates a harmony so beautiful it feels like home.

Back then, I didn’t have a big plan. I just wanted to share something I loved. Locals stopped by to say hi, and they’d ask, “Where do you go to eat Vietnamese food in Amsterdam?” My answer was always the same: “I cook at home—because home-cooked food is the best.” Then someone asked me a simple question:

“Can you cook for us?”

I said yes.

That “yes” turned into something I never expected. From my tiny shop kitchen, I started cooking meals that reminded me of home. Neighbors came back, word spread, and soon, Bonjour Càphê became a place where people came not just to eat, but to connect. Locals, expats, travelers, and especially the Vietnamese community—students, families, and Viet-Dutch residents—found a piece of home here.

A Year of Growth, A Year of Challenges

This year has been the most incredible and challenging of my life. I had no experience running a restaurant. My small team and I worked long hours, standing, cooking, and even washing dishes by hand—because that’s all we had.

Our tiny kitchen struggled to keep up with demand, with poor ventilation and frequent power outages. But no matter how hard it got, we kept going. Because you kept showing up.

Last week, we celebrated Bonjour Càphê’s one-year anniversary. I still can’t believe how far we’ve come—all because of your love, support, and belief in what we do.

NOW, WE'RE AT A CROSSROADS

I need to be honest: Bonjour Càphê will close by the end of January.

Our lease cannot be renewed as a restaurant, and staying in this space is no longer an option. This tiny shop, which has given us so much, is no longer enough to sustain what we’ve built together.

But there’s hope: I’ve found a new space—just 7 minutes away by bike. It’s everything I dreamed of for Bonjour Càphê: more space, better facilities, and the chance to continue serving you without compromise.

The challenge? In Amsterdam, new hospitality permits haven’t been issued in over 7 years. The only way forward is to buy out an existing business license.

What We Need

• €180,000 to purchase the space and license.
• €20,000 for deposit and operational costs.

That’s €200,000 to give Bonjour Càphê the forever home it deserves. It’s a lot of money, and as much as I’ve given my heart, soul, and savings to this dream, I can’t do this alone.
